Salvador, to the north of Rio, is the centre of Afro-Brazilian Culture in Brazil with 80% of its population being of African heritage. Salvador has a population of 3.4 million people and is Brazil’s third largest city after Sao Paulo and Rio.
Salvador was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. |
