In June 2010 Eleanor and I flew to Rome and rented a Fiat Panda. We navigated north to the province of Umbria where we stayed four nights. This was the view from our restaurant, "Il Re Beve" at the Castello di Casigliano. From here we could travel to many of the ancient villages in Umbria including Todi, Multipulciano, and Orvieto. The Castello, originally owned by the Holy See, is dated from the 16th Century. At some point it was purchased by the family of a Contessa who lives in Florence. She own this Castello and the surrounding hamlet. We stayed three nights in a wonderful ancient apartment and our last night in the castle itself. We had a private dinner served to us down a long dark hallway, under the castle in a wine cellar. |
